MATTERHORN MODEL: Disneyland '59 The Rarest Parade of Them All

One of three Matterhorn models done before the 1959 opening on the backstage of Disneyland. The three models were done at approximately 1/30th scale, with one for on site, one for the water and landscaping crew, and one for the engineers. In Todd's essay on the Rarest Parade of Them All, a photo of the Matterhorn float featuring bobsledders in the front, and one of the three Matterhorn models in the back (and thus the reason for this complimentary material photo). You can see another photo of one of these models from the DHI 2011 Walt's Birthday celebration. This model features Walt with the framework of the engineering model (or the track model) at the WED Model Shop on the Studio lot, which can be seen HERE.

The Least Photographed Land in the Park

Disneyland Holidayland Playground, February 1958.
Todd's awesome essay included some screamingly rare color photographs, especially of the seldom seen Holidayland playground. Here is a different view from February 1958, that shows the full Westward Ho! slides (even the playground equipment was super cool at Disneyland!) and the even least-ier photographed Disneyland parking lot.
